tornado experience’s?

i was at a dirt bike enduro in sc and i just got back from the first of three loops to refuel and such and i was about to take off when i see a whole bunch of little tornado’s wreaking havoc on our tents canopy’s etc. now this was in a big cornfield with hundreds of people in it, most with tents and canopy’s also. so you’ve got to imagine all this weak flimsy metal catching the wind and getting thrown around like toothpicks right in the middle of a race, it was a weird site to say the least.

so what are your experiences with tornado’s or mini tornado’s

CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:

These mini whirlwinds are not tornadoes per se but little dust devils (whirl winds) as some people call them. I remember playing softball once and one of these little whirlwinds picked up 2nd base and shot it into the outfield. That was crazy, so I know what you are talking about. They can’t do too much damage like a larger tornado which is more deadly and will kill. Still, I wouldn’t want to be caught up in one.

I spent over 30 years watching these things as a forecaster.

Beach wedding reception in california?

OK, everyone’s really being helpful with the answering of which beach to be married at along the california coastline. NOW, here’s where I’ve been having trouble finding information. I want to set up a canopy, and have the reception there, on the beach, not at a restraunt nearby or at a hotel, right there on the beach. Now:). Has anyone done this yet or know how it can be done, if it’s ever been done? I’m planning a sunset wedding, with the reception afterwards, but a brunch before the wedding, complicated right?:) but… the tent will basically be up all day, so. Anyone knows how and where I can accomplish this? thanks

How should we handle this?????

Ok, here is the situation. My nephew is 10 years old and a bit out of control with his behavior. I think it is because both of his parents work and my parents pretty much watch him everyday so it is almost like he is being raised by my parents instead of his parents. My husband and I own a canopy tent that we put up for parties and stuff like that and this week we are putting it up in my parents yard because the family has a party coming up. I know that my nephew will be there because my brother and sister in law will be helping to put the canopy tent up. Last time we tried to put it up my nephew was out of control and trying to boss everybody around and would not slow down and I remember my husband getting very angry with him because he was frustrated with him and was afraid of the tent ripping because of how my nephew was acting. My nephew was trying to take the project over. Which he kept getting way out of line. What can we do this time so that we don’t have a repeat of that this time? Should we maybe mention something to his parents beforehand?
I should add that the tent is on the large side and it was pretty expensive so that is one of the reasons why his behavior was such an issue last time.
I also add too that everytime my husband or I try to correct him on his behavior that my parents or his parents always step on our toes about it and pretty much tell us that we can’t do that and that they will handle him.
tjstlouismo, I understand where you are coming from but I can do without the rudeness. Also, there is no way a 10 year old will be in charge of putting the tent up. We paid a lot of money for it and are not willing to put a 10 year old in charge of it. Think about it. Would you put your child in charge of something so expensive?
tjstlouismo, my parents raised me just fine. My point about my parents raising him is that they are the grandparents and they won’t discipline him like they did me and his parents are working all the time so they are not around to do that either so he is having issues with having good manners because he does not know right from wrong. That was the point that I was trying to make.

CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:

Since nephew’s parents don’t seem to bother much about discipline I think it is for you & your husband to establish it.
You may not be comfortable with this as it is to be put up in your parents yard but it is your tent not theirs.

How can I make this better?

He could see hundreds of people raising tents, setting up tables, hanging lanterns, and making all types of exotic foods in the distance of the field. The party was the only thing on his mind, and all the Abora stuff felt like a day in the past. Even better, people didn’t bother asking for his autograph because they were so engaged and distracted by the party.
“So, I am surprised you didn’t recognize me, with all the talk going around,” Max said, laying his shoulders back, letting the sun shine on his face.
“I actually did recognize you, but that’s not why I decided to go with you to the party,” Alexis replied.
“I’m glad you see it that way, I get tired of people asking for my autograph.”

As they arrived at the field Max set the groceries down near the blue canopy tent, where Alexis and her family were setting up an eating contest. His mouth dropped, looking further into the field. He knew there had to be thousands of people, tents were scattered all over, with tables, chairs, appetizer stands, contests, and loads of barrels with fresh tea.
“Whoa, that’s a lot of people,” he said with astonishment.
“Last time there was more. This event his held every five years and people from all over Hitrea come and visit. It’s quite a party, you know. So many people coming together at one place.”

CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:

Ok so here’s how this goes….

  >>> “People didn’t bother asking for his autograph because they were so engaged and distracted by the party.” If the main character is Max, then you should be in his mind. Look at it like this, the narrator is his brain.
So to make it seem more realistic do this… “People didn’t bother asking for his autograph because, Max guessed (or supposed or inferred, whatever), they were so engaged and distracted by the party.”

>>> Unless this is just a part from a book and not the beginning of it, (and it’s not in first person) Don’t just start with he, especially if this is a new chapter. And where did Alexis come from?? The key is that you should remind yourself, when you read it over, that the readers have no idea what’s happening. So it should be like this, “From this hill (or wherever they’re standing before they reach the field) where Max and Alexis were standing, they could see hundreds of people raising tents, setting up tables, hanging lanterns and making all types of exotic food (Do they have a smell?),causing different smells to linger around his nose, from the distance of the field.”

>>> Was Alexis in the canopy tent or in the field? So these sentences:
“As they arrived at the field Max set the groceries down near the blue canopy tent, where Alexis and her family were setting up an eating contest.

His mouth dropped, looking further into the field. He knew there had to be thousands of people, tents were scattered all over, with tables, chairs, appetizer stands, contests, and loads of barrels with fresh tea.” They don’t make sense.
You should do something like this: “As they arrived at the field, Max set the groceries down near the blue canopy tent, where Alexis and (overall, what did the family look like? Plump, skinny?) her family were setting up an eating contest.” Actually, this sentence was good, it was just the next one. You should try this:
“As Max’s gaze wandered further into the field, his jaw dropped. A sea of tables, chairs, appetizer stands, contest stages(there’s contests already? I thought they were just setting up? Add “Stages”), and loads of barrels (does he have X-Ray vision? How does he know they have tea in them? Are they marked?) that were marked in white letters, “Fresh Tea”

The rest was good, you just need to follow these tips The plot of this fantasy city seems really good… I like it.

Is there a way to calculate the area of this canopy?

I bought a tent for a backyard party. I need to know the area of the canopy of the top of the tent, because I want to buy fabric to drape on the underside to give it a nicer look. Right now I’m storing it in my parent’s garage out of town so I can’t go measure the canopy.

The dimensions are- 12′ x 26′ x 6′ 8″ Center Peak Height: 10′ 2″

Here’s a link to the tent I bought.

CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:

Pythagorean Theorem does apply here! What a great theorem…

The canopy has two rectangles, and the area of one rectangle is (length X width). The length is 26′. The width can be calculated using Pythagorean’s Theorem. We have a triangle with sides (peak height – base height) and (width_B / 2). Width_B is the base width.

Note: 1 foot = 12 inches

(peak height – base height) = (10 + 2 / 12) – (6 + 8 / 12) = 3.5′
(width_B / 2) = (12 / 2) = 6′

Now, Pythagorean’s theorem says
(width)^2 = (3.5)^2 + (6)^2
width = 6.95′

Now the area of the rectangle is (length X width) = (26 X 6.95) = 180.70 sq. Ft.
But we can’t forget the other rectangle, so it is
182.78 X 2 = 361.40 sq. Ft.

That would be exact, but anything near 360 sq. Ft. Should work fine. It would be better to get too much rather than too little. Good luck!

Does this sound okay?

Chapter 1

The thick smell of smoke filled the air and crowded my mind as I tried to think. My head was spinning painfully in endless circles. I could have sworn it was these woods; they were cutting off my mind, making this whole dang trip frustrating. Finally, I racked my brain for an idea. Maybe I could, ah, take a little detour… I carefully unzipped the nylon tent, so Hazel wouldn’t wake. It was dark, making it so you could only see the outline of the thickets and trees. Quickly, I ran over to the other side of the camp site, flinching with every crunch of the gravel. The damp log, which I decided to sit on, was perched around the burnt out campfire.
Wasn’t I supposed to like the woods? I mean, my name is Willow; shouldn’t I enjoy the fact that all around me was wilderness? Maybe, but I couldn’t with the constant nagging thought of who I was here with—Hazel. Why was I here?! I kept telling myself it would all turn out okay, maybe just to save my insanity, but I knew deep in me that this wouldn’t help anything.
In the distance, a bird chirp echoed through the grounds. I made a silent promise to myself that I would come out of this place with a new lesson. There was absolutely no point in suffering this much, with no motivation or reward.
Thinking back to the beginning of the school year, I realized it was the reason I was here.

                                                 * * *

I fidgeted in my room for ten minutes, pacing back and forth. I spun around to check the clock; it read six-thirty in the morning. Making sure my hair was brushed thoroughly, my shoes were double knotted and my clothes—a dressy shirt and jeans—were smooth and wrinkle free, I walked over to sit in front of my full vanity.
This is stupid, I told myself. I shouldn’t be nervous. I shouldn’t hate today, but it was true. I had loathed the first day of my seventh grade all summer. Really, the only thing I wanted to say right now was that I am staying in Elementary School. Middle School was stupid. Middle School was like being stuck between two worlds, not exactly fitting into either. I had finished Elementary School, but I was not yet in High School. Knowing I was at this point made me feel like a misfit, which didn’t match my friends views on our new grade. They are ecstatic, and have probably been waiting for this day all of their lives.
Staring at my auburn hair in the mirror, brushing through the waves repeatedly, I tried reassuring myself that today wouldn’t be as bad as I thought it would. Seventh grade couldn’t be much different from sixth; just one year older. Maybe the only reason for my worries was that I was staying at the same school for the second year, instead of moving away for my father’s job as a lawyer.
I turned around to try to preoccupy myself. My room was large, considering that it was originally the master bedroom. My parents had thought it was too small so they built a bigger room for them. The big king sized canopy bed was placed on the other side of the room. In front of it was the large television that hung on the wall, and the oak coffee table underneath it. On top of that was my navy blue backpack, stuffed with notebooks and freshly sharpened pencils. I quickly looked away, trying to ignore the feeling that they gave me. Instead, I looked along the edges of the purple painted walls.

PLEASE DONT STEAL MY WRITING

Thanks

Aha. This one’s much better! Good descriptives: “The thick smell of smoke filled the air and crowded my mind,” etc.

One thing was kinda confusing though, was when she opened the flap to the tent and then “ran to the other side of the campsite. I assumed that she was already outside, then thought she was going back into the tent, then ran back out. Also, why is there thick smoke in the air when the fire’s died out and people have gone to sleep?

Another gripe: “Really, the only thing I wanted to say right now was that I am staying in Elementary School. Middle School was stupid. Middle School was like being stuck between two worlds, not exactly fitting into either. I had finished Elementary School, but I was not yet in High School.”

^A lot of this is repetitive, and could be combined into one sentence or left out altogether.

“Maybe the only reason for my worries was that I was staying at the same school for the second year, instead of moving away” <— Wow. The reason she's unhappy is because she ISN'T moving away? Everyone else on here who posts their stories for critiquing writes about girls being emo because they have to switch schools. Well, kudos for being original, but I still don't understand her reasoning. Why is that a problem?

would you read? what do you think? help please!?

Ella
I feel pleasantly woozy as I shut my window and slip into my canopy bed. It’s nights like these when I remember why I am alive. Swaddling myself in flannel sheets, I curl up into a ball and pull the plaid duvet over my head. I can still smell the smoke in my hair from the bonfire. I am so relieved that my parents went out of town this weekend. My soft mattress swallows me as I melt and become one with the satin pillowcase. Night is a time of peacefulness, of rest, of relaxation. Night is an escape from the sharp reality of high school situations. I’ve always been the dreamer, the one who wanted to fly high. The one who has the potential to fly high. My thoughts continually float from scheme to scheme, constantly pondering the detail of everything. I can be a very mean person- in my head. I process plans that could ruin the lives of those around me. Inside my mind, I am vengeful; in reality, I’m not. I can’t stand to watch others experience pain. My mom says that I’m just nice, and that nice people don’t have good high school experiences. Although, I don’t think I would consider my high school experience bad. I have a 4.5 GPA and am a 3 season varsity athlete, it’s just a question of the amount of fun I’m having.
My eyelids seal shut as my mind slips into a world of endless possibilities, a world without stress or situations to handle. A world that is a blank slate waiting to be written at the hands of my whims. My limp body melds with the tent of blankets and…
Clouds of magenta fog surround me as I clasp a soft, masculine hand. I see his wispy silhouette through the mist. My heart starts to throb as an internal fire flushes throughout my entire body. Panels of blue silk fall from the sky and billow to the ground. I can see only his eyes as he steps forward to embrace me. Whether it was from the alcohol of earlier that night or my own general personality, a sort of loopy romanticism washes over me as I feel him kiss my forehead.
I wriggle happily and roll over to my left, when a heavy thump of great force on the bed breaks my slumber. I hear a spring break upon impact and by reflex immediately sit up. I see a dark figure making sharp, indecisive movements next to the edge of my bed, torn between me and the window of escape. Although it is only a few moments, a few ticks of the second hand on a clock, time slows down for the deciding moments of one’s life. More clearly and more memorable can a few important seconds be than the hours upon hours and days upon days in the scheme of our lives. And it only takes a moment for me to glimpse his face and know why he is here.
My wave of panicked adrenaline hasn’t even had time to arrive when his muscular left arm swings a large mallet towards the right side of my head. The last thing I hear is a shrill shriek whose owner is unbeknownst to me.

Jennifer
Mundane would probably be the perfect word to describe my life right now. Sit, sleep, eat, work: life in prison isn’t very exciting. Not to mention trying to do all these things, which is just as difficult. Working in the prison speaks for itself, I don’t quite think anyone finds kitchen duty exciting. Eating is difficult, because of the quality of the food we’re given. If I ever leave here, remind me never to eat another oyster, glass of grape juice, or stick of beef jerky. I’ve had enough of those to last a lifetime. Sleeping isn’t even a time for relaxation, because the makeshift beds do no justice to the rigid floor upon which we (as in, us inmates) live.
My new lifestyle, however boring it is, is very contrasting to that of my old town, Ridgestone. A small town with large houses, one could barely walk down the street without recognizing nine out of the ten people that they passed. The only form of entertainment other than parties where people drunk their parent’s alcohol was to sit at Starbucks and drink exciting caffeinated beverages. Even in comparison to Ridgestone, mundane would certainly be the perfect word to describe my life right now. Ever noticed how mundane events or rituals are always preceded by exciting ones? For example, think back to your first day of kindergarten. Remember how excited you were, with your new backpack, your new teacher, and all of your new friends? That first day of kindergarten began a long stretch of monotony that would end on Graduation Day, senior year.
Senior year was supposed to be my year, my time to shine. I know it’s very clichéd, but I always imagined myself at prom, surrounded by a gorgeous boyfriend and my best friends.
It’s almost comical how wrong I was. Now I’m confined to a jail cell, with no close friends and only prison-guards to keep me company. No dancing and dresses either. I am a 17 year old in jail because I was convicted of killing my best friend the summer before senior year.
I writhe under the scratchy blanket. Luxurious is no word to portray the clammy and musty box that I live in. It’s always

First thought: I think this should be written in 3rd pov, and the friend’s part of the story in 1st. Since you’re only focusing on this character for this scene (or so I assume…?) I would say that you should not take your readers into her mind. They won’t see her again, so they don’t need to know her internal thoughts quite this clearly, unless it’s pivotal for later. I think the different povs would also just add contrast that could help your book sound interesting.

Now, just so I mention this, the prologue (or I assume it’s one…?) would not have to have a lot cut out to fit into 3rd pov. You can still show all of this internal stuff through the lense of 3rd pov. And it can be very fun to read if done well, I think.

“Inside her mind, she is vengeful; in reality, she is not. She can’t stand to watch others experience pain. Her mom says that she’s just nice, and that nice people don’t have good high school experiences.”

I cut nothing, and it works. I’ve seen it done like this in a lot of professional books. Plus, the present-tense adds some interesting tone qualities to the 3rd pov for this scene.

Hm, I do wonder a little. Is it necessary for the reader to know all of this about the victim? There are little things, “it’s just a question of the amount of fun I’m having.” This makes me want to find out more about what she defines fun as, and why she thinks her life isn’t wonderful. If I spend the whole book in someone else’s head, I’ll never have an answer for this question, and it feels…annoying? I don’t think you should let the reader develop very many questions about this character’s problems/worries, when she is just going to die and never be heard from again. UNLESS, the next character is going to be able to tell us about her friend’s past, etc, and have it relate back to this scene. If something is going to be alluded to later in the book, then you can probably keep it in here.

I don’t know. When I was reading this, it just felt like a character introduction for a novel in which this person would be the narrator. I feel like I learned too much about this girl to just have her…not be the focus anymore. I think you should cut some of the info about her. But if you keep the stuff about her being a dreamer, and her internal self, it relates to the daydream she’s having when attacked, and that gives a lead-in to the action of the scene. So that can all be deemed necessary if you want, but could maybe be condensced if need be.

In answer to your main question though: yes, I would read more. With the way you ended this, I don’t think I could not read more. I have to know if the girl is okay, what happened next, etc. (Except I know from your ending info that the story is about her death. We’ll pretend I didn’t read that.)

I think you did a good job by making this scene seem so relaxing and peaceful, then to just spring us into a huge actioion point of the story. It surprised me. I expected this to be an opening for a finding-yourself in high school kind of book. Instead, it went in a completely different direction. It made a contrast to the peaceful entrance, and it made the action seem that much more important/surprising. Cool. : )

* * *

This is very good writing; if this is how your going to start the story, then I must say that this is great. I myself am a writer of several stories, one of them being hopefully published when I turn 18. The only thing I have to say is that describing her room isn’t necessary. My mom once told me this; “If it doesn’t advance the plot, leave it out.” Describing things that aren’t really a part of the story in excessive detail is pointless. If this story turns out to be short, let it be short. A short story is usually under 100 pages, so don’t feel like it has to be long. I hope that you’ll definitely continue this story, because it’s looking very promising. I would advise NOT worrying if people like it or not. Wait until you’ve made it perfect to yourself before you look for people to like it for you.

Well obviously the smallest tarp you want is 12′x12′. I`d say go with at least a 15′x15′ tarp. If the tent is decent and has a good fly you shouldnt need a tarp. But personally if you really need it go with a 20′x20′ this way you have a small place to sit under and stay dry. Sort of like a porch area.

There is no need to do all that math and measuring, you know the tent is 10′x12′ thats all you need, you`re not having a custom tarp created.

I burned a hole in my tent at the bottom on the floor where it’s the tarp like material. How can I patch it?

Basically I was thinking of getting another tarp and cutting out 2 patches, then rubber cementing one on each side of the hole. Is this the best way? I know that they make tent patching kits, but I thought they were for the upper more fabric like portion. This is on the bottom where it’s like a tarp.

CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:

There are various options depending on the size of the hole. For very small holes, you may be able to seal the hole with some Goop or other type of epoxy/rubber cement. If its too big, then you are going to need to patch it or duct tape it.

Duct tape is by far the quickest and easiest method for repairing the hole, but over time the tape will become brittle and you’ll have to replace it. But it will probably work for 3-5 years if you don’t camp often.

The more permanent method is to patch the hole. Really, any material that will withstand the rigors and stresses put on the tent will work for you. I have a repair kit that came with my self-inflating mattresses. The patch material is more like a rubber than light nylon tent fabric. I’m sure you could cut your own patches from another tarp, but remember that when you cut out your patch the ends will fray and you will need to either hem, fuse, or tape the ends.

Hope this helps.

Tarp tent/ six moon designs/ best tarp tent option?

I recently researched the tarp tent below:

http://www.sixmoondesigns.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=47

It is airy and easy to sent up like a tarp, has a bug mesh and a reliable floor. It doesn’t require tent poles but can be set up with hiking poles and sleeps two. It is extremely light and packs very small.

I think this is the best shelter out on the market for two people, but it’s expensive. Other manufacturers that make similar products (GoLite, Black Diamond) are either more expensive or not as good with fewer features.

Are there any other tarp tent manufacturers out there with better prices? I’m not interesting in anything that requires more than a hiking pole or two to set up or anything without a floor/bug net. Thanks.
I like that MSR, the overhang in particular. I looked at the specs and the pdf, couldn’t tell if it came with netting or not.

As to making my own stuff, thanks for the compliment dude, but trust me, I don’t have near the skills or patience for that kind of work. I’ve read of guys doing that, pretty amazing. For me, the instructions could be in crayon and I still wouldn’t get it.

I’m switching my family from a 4 lb tent to a proper ultralight tarp shelter with mosquito netting and floor this winter as well but I’m going to go ahead and sew my own from the Ray Jardine kit for $118.95, since I’ve already made my own sleeping quilts and backpack. Ray swears he sells the only silnylon material in the world that will not mist through in heavy rain. If it were just myself I’d stick with my $60 silnylon tarp and no mosquito netting.

Another option is the Henry Shires Tarp Tents with both two man tents, the Cloudburst 2 and Double Rainbow 2 running slightly cheaper than the Six Moon Designs at $260 for either. Http://www.tarptent.com/products.html. I never considered the Six Moon Designs, though I have heard good things about their backpacks.

And again with the sewing, the instructions for sewing your own Henry Shires tent have always been available free online: http://thru-hiker.com/projects/tarptent.php

CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:

There are many ways and materials that can be made to hang the lanterns from.

My first choice [because I've actually used it before, AND it's relatively easy, and quick, and "cheap"] is to tightly stretch heavy twine between trees, and/or corners of the house, or power poles, or light poles in and around the yard.

The length of the “run” between the ends of the lines, and the number and weight of the lanterns determines the weight [thickness] of the twine. If the length of run, and/or number and weight of the lanterns to be supported is too great for an ordinary, but good twine, then use cheap 3/8ths or 1/4 inch nylon rope [sold in bulk, or by the roll at Harbor Freight & Tool, for example, or most hardware and/or home improvement centers].

40 feet of good twine should easily hold its own weight plus several lanterns. It you run the support lines down the 60 foot length, then you should use 3/8ths nylon rope.

I checked out this tent through your link. I would purchase this tent at that price. Looks to be a good starter tent. Even if you decide you don’t like it you have not invested to much. Also note that for summer camping you can piece together a great set in relatively short time buying a cooler, propane or kerosene style lanterns, stove, chairs and sleeping bags say every other payday. I would not trust this tent to sleep more than 4 though. After years of camping through 3 seasons I have found that an air mattresses gives me much better sleep at nights and it uses more space as well. You can pay a fortune for a great tent, but to get started this looks fine. Have fun with it.

and ill buy red and white balloons for the decorations.

What is the average time it takes to settle a simple car property damage claim?

A couple of weeks ago my family and I ate at a local Chick-fil-a. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time and the employees were setting up for one of their many events. While we were inside eating we saw a large tent/canopy blow across the parking lot because it was not staked down and it was very windy. It ended up damaging my car.

The claim is being handled by a company called Sedgwick and I sent the adjuster photos and an estimate I had done as soon as she contacted me. She sent her own appraiser out as well who said he agreed with the estimate I had gotten (I gave him a copy).

I called the adjuster Friday to check the status and she said she rec’d the appraiser’s report but they were still investigating and needed to talk to everyone who was on the parking lot that day (a whole 2 people-both were employees setting up for the event).

This seems like a pretty simple claim so I was hoping to get it resolved soon. I know every company is different and have their own procedures to follow, just looking for a ball park time frame as to how long it usually takes claims like this to get settled.

Who should pay for damage, the host or the guest who caused it??

We borrowed a neighbor’s tent/canopy for an outdoor party at our house. My husband’s brother was setting off fireworks and one landed on top the canopy which caused 2 small holes (about dime size or smaller). My husband feels it is our responsibility to replace the canopy since we were hosting the party. I feel his brother should at least offer to pay for some of it since he was setting off the fireworks. But since we will probably end up paying for it I feel that we shouldn’t allow fireworks at the party at all, since we are responsible for the damage. My husband again disagrees which is causing us to cancel our annual party all together.

CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:

In a technical legal sense – you are responsible to pay your neighbor back for damages; however, you can turn around and hold your BIL responsible because he committed the negligent act. It would not be cool to make your neighbor track down your BIL for the damages since they had no agreement. However, you did have an agreement with your brother in law.

One could argue that your brother in law owes you nothing because you guys wanted him to play with the fireworks in an area where it would forseeably cause damage – this would require more facts. Banning fireworks would protect you from future liability but won’t help the current situation. However, then you are losing out on the fun of fireworks – it is a decision you have to weigh.

If everybody is standing up and you allow an area 3 feet by 3 feet for each person then they need 9 sq feet each. About the same for sitting.
20 by 20 is 400 sq ft. Divided by 9 is 44 people.
15 by 15 is 225 sq ft. Divided by 9 is 25 people

If they’re sitting at a table then about 5 sq ft perperson.

How high above the Earth would God need to be for people to appear the size of Grasshoppers?

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. Isaiah 40:22

Eg. Satellite images don’t show people so I would guess God would need to be sitting below satellite height

CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:

The point God is making at Isaiah 40:22 with reference to us human beings as grasshoppers has nothing to do with the DISTANCE AWAY from the earth that God is.

God does not live in the physical heavens (the sky, outer space… Etc), he lives in the spiritual heavens which is in a completely different REALM… The spirit realm:

“So he went on to say to them: “YOU are from the realms below; I am from the realms above.”
~ John 8:23

Have you ever strolled across a meadow in summer and seen countless grasshoppers leap out of your path? They seemed to be everywhere, though you may have paid them scant attention. After all, they appear harmless and insignificant.

Yet, the virtual INSIGNIFICANCE of grasshoppers makes them a suitable symbol of mankind. Although some prominent men may consider themselves highly important, our Almighty Creator thinks otherwise. His prophet Isaiah said:

“There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth, the dwellers in which are as grasshoppers.”
~ Isaiah 40:22.

Almighty JEHOVAH God’s (http://tinyurl.com/65bvd2o ; http://tinyurl.com/66vdblk ) grandeur, might, and wisdom elevate him far above the realm of mere humans, just as man is far superior to the grasshopper in intellect and power. However, God’s supreme quality is LOVE. And his matchless love impels him to take notice of us, help us, and save us—if we love and obey him. Jehovah deals with us lovingly, even though we are LIKE insignificant grasshoppers. The psalmist said: “Who is like Jehovah our God, him who is making his dwelling on high? He is condescending to look on heaven and earth, raising up the lowly one from the very dust.”—Psalm 113:5-7.

As this psalm explains, Jehovah lovingly extends help to the lowly one. Yes, He helps those who humbly ‘seek God that they may really find him.’ (Acts 17:27) Those who do find God—and serve him—even become precious in his eyes (Compare Isaiah 43:4, 10).

The humble grasshopper thus serves to remind us of OUR OWN INSIGNIFICANCE and of THE LOVE of our almighty Creator, who grants obedient humans his friendship and undeserved kindness.

Are you SHOWING appreciation for God’s love (http://tinyurl.com/286ctmn )?

Where can I find a hemp /burlap canopy tent for an arts and craft show? ?

Looking for a Hemp / Burlap natural material canopy tent for an arts and crafts show that I can easily throw in my car and set up every where I go. I have researched online but havent found anything. Any help would be appreciated

Can I use a canopy tent as a paint booth?

I want to paint a the front bumper of my car and I have the tools. But there’s a problem. I don’t have a paint booth. I was wondering if it’s possible to make a paint booth using a tent canopy, two industrial fans and air filters.

CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:

I’ve made paint booths out of a garage stall and plastic tarps with a couple of fans. No problem.

What you have to do is have enough room to maneuver around your project, have personal filter protection for you (wear a very good paint respirator) as well as eye protection and some kind of ventilation for the project that isn’t going to draw dust into the painting area.

Go to your local Arts and Crafts store.

We use this for my sons BoyScout Troops tents.

You only need to be concerned with the fact that you require both ACRYLIC paints and a type of Deco art fabric medium spray for almost any polyester (denier included).

How you apply the Acrylic paint is up to you. Personally, I prefer to airbrush it on, but others prefer to use a fine brush instead. Either way, you’ll accomplish your goal.

The Deco art fabric medium spray, or similar product, will produce a washable and permanent surface to paint and adhere on. Additionally, it will protect from UV and weather related (use and abuse) fading.
