About Tarp Tent Poles

A shopper wants to know…
Probably a simple maths question.?
(I don’t remember how to work this out please forgive me)
I want to make a tarp pole.
I have 2 tarps which i want to erect at 45 degrees to each other (so it looks like a traditional tent shape).
how do i find out how long to make the 2 poles to fit each end of the apex?
I’m sure it’s a simple question but it’s confusing me.
Cheers
the tarp edge is 86″(219cm).
CanopyTentStore.com Staff Says:
When you say 45 degrees to each other im going to assume that you mean perpendicular to each other and 45 degrees to the ground.
Take the length of one of the tarps (from the ground to the point where they meet), square it, then half that, then get the square root of that. That is your ideal pole height if you want the tarps taught.
That particular solution only works at 45 degrees. Any other angle and you’d wouldn’t be halving the square of the tarp length. Algebraically speaking (if the length of the tarp is c, the height (what you are after) is b, and the width from the middle to where the tarp is at the ground is a), you could use the following equation:
(a squared) + (b squared) = (c squared).
Since you don’t necessarily have the width (a), there is a calculation using sine, which is below:
sin(45) * (length of the tarp) = height
( * means multiply).

what is a good response to the call “too sexy”?
this is during a roll call and we’re trying to get laughs so we can get points for a tenting competition. some of the responses we’ve used are: too sexy…for the pole, not sexy enough for the corner. too sexy…to be ignored, not sexy enough to be loved. too sexy…to keep my tarp on (our tarp blew off of our tent due to high winds).

I use a 3 day assault pack.It has plenty of room and I can get to everything in it easily. You carry a lot of gear.Even more than me and I thought I had a lot.But for long term survival I think you have a good set up.I hope you work out because it will get heavy after a while.Maybe replace some of your food with high protein and calorie foods. Also vitamins like B12 and magnesium are good for energy and muscle function and are very cheap.

The answer is no
The thing we shouldn’t take for granted is life. Life is simple. You are born, and eventually die of natural causes or from a catastrophe

The package would need all the necessities to abstain life for 10 years

Any and all Guides to sustain life
Now i know what your all thinking. This back pack must be the size of a shed. Well many of these can be down sized. And the actual Rectangle box it would be in. Would have to be water proof, heat resistant, crush resistant, and mobile
The case would need have compartments and organized
The case wouldn’t be impossible to lug around. it would have to have self propelled wheels. and a large handle, for one to pull with both hands as it is behind them
This will cost a lot of money. But it could be the very one thing to bring all countries together. This is just an estimate, but 1/3 of money from each country could be more than enough, or just under
Say something catastrophic happens worldwide. Money than would have no use what so ever
This would create many jobs, and the only way to work, is to have every country in this
Strict and harsh laws would have to be made for selling, opening or any form of tampering with these life saving cases. An idea is a GPS unit built inside. And a device to signal a case opening, and a vibration censor for reason of tampering, or trying to cut, hammer etc, it opened
Another idea is 1 time per month These cases need to be Wireless or in person checked. To see if it has not been tampered with. And Checking for the items that can spoil, seeing if they have been or not been spoiled yet.
No person rich or poor will have any difference in quality, or the wide ranged of goods inside. All will be the same. No favoritism
And of coarse this will be free for everyone. Because if not, only the mid level family and up would have a chance at life. Poor people are humans as well as the rest of us. And CANNOT be excluded
This is for ANY and ALL natural or man made disasters.

You are a Canadian. I guess this is why you feel your government should have to pay for such things.
I’m an American, fiercely independent, and proud of it. We own everything you listed (minus some of the silly items) and far more. We worked for, and purchased every single item ourselves.
They are all under our control, tailored to our family and our families needs. They are protected of course not by our government, but rather our rural location, our dogs, and of course our firearms….in other words, by us.
Why don’t you work for, and earn the survival items you want? Why don’t you put them away in a safe location, without your neighbors knowing about them? Why don’t you learn survival skills, like gardening, felling a tree, fishing, first aid, and such so you can do it WITHOUT looking at a book?
